The new Labour government in the UK has committed to doubling the size of co-operative and mutual sectors. This raises a series of questions that are relevant to all countries and the whole co-operative movement well beyond the UK, including how big is the co-op sector now? And, how big should it be?

Colin Talbot, UKSCS trustee and emeritus  professor of government at University of Manchester, looks at these questions in his article for Co-op News, published 4 June.
